Ultrasonic Welding
The ultrasonic welding technology applies ultrasonic vibrations to materials under pressure. Due to vibrations, the mechanical energy is transformed into the material and they get heated. Being the thermoplastic material or materials with thermoplastic coating, the thermoplastic melts. As the pressure has also been applied at the same time while the thermoplastic material is melted, the thermoplastic surfaces of layers are bonded with each other.
Ultrasonic welding is carried out either by cyclic method or continuous method. The principle is the same the thermoplastic materials are heated by ultrasonic vibrations and bonded under pressure. The image below shows the principle of a continuous ultrasonic welding machine.

Ultrasonic Welding Principle
Following parameters influence the welding with ultrasonic technology
Every material has its own optimum welding properties which have to be found partially through empirical experiments.
Ultrasonic welding machines come with different anvil wheels. These anvil wheels will create different seam widths, patterns, and diameters. Due to different anvil wheels, different seam properties can be achieved.
