QONDAC System

The Qondac system is the product of Dürkopp Adler AG which is a famous sewing machine producer in Germany. The system works on the intelligent networking between the sewing machine, and study the data that these machines are producing.

A network adaptor will connect the controls safely to the network. All machines that are equipped with these controls are already fit for future Industry 4.0 solutions. The system is based on the local server only whose device is provided by Dürkopp Adler. The system is based on the the concept that the sewing machines talk to network and deliver different information in realtime e.g. how many stitches have been taken place, what are the downtimes, how many times the presser foot has been lifted, how many times backtracks are performed, and so on.

If a machine does not perform well, The Qondac network sends notifications to the production manager about the problem proactively and production manager is in a position to respond before the breakdown actually takes place. Due to exact data, the maintenance department is also in a position to identify the problem much quicker and save downtime. The system also knows exactly how many stitches have been performed and may give a notification to the sewing machine operator to change the needle and preventive maintenance can be realized. 

On the basis of this information, the production managers are able to know which machine is performing well. This information is available down to each machine in the production line and the maintenance department is also able to identify the machines which are not performing well. The key performance indicators (KPI) can be set which are relevant to the production and a transparent look at the process can be achieved.

The graphically explained data tells in real time the performance in each workstation. To have a smooth production line to avoid bottle neck it tells which process has to be paced up or which has to be lower down. In garment production, the smooth work flow is the key. If a particular process is performing very well but the next process is underperforming, it brings nothing good to whole production of the production line. Therefore it is really important the managers have realtime information of each process to ensure smooth production flow.

 

 

Linking the network

v_sion links every workplace in a network, whether it‘s a fully equipped sewing workplace or a manual workplace. It is monitoring and analyzing the process, like the efficiency of line and workplace, parts per time, the scrap level, repair time, or the machine downtime. As a result, it provides the best possible detection of optimizing potentials for the process. All the relevant production data is clearly displayed and available anywhere, at any time.

The sewing production halls may come with machines from different producers. Therefore, a mechanism has to be developed where all those machines with different make can communicate and be integrated into the network. New machines usually have an RS232 port from which digital data can be communicated. The older ones who are not equipped with it, need an interface to get connected with the whole network. The machines have a digital interface from which the machine operator can report the downtime and may call the technician/supervisor for help.
