Garment Processing

Over the past few decades the garments are processed quite vigorously to meet the certain needs of manufacturers and customers. This aspect has been mostly seen for denim manufacturing. The main purpose of garment processing is following

      • to create altered look
      • special color effects
      • washed look
      • improve the hand feel
      • fabric destruction

As mentioned there is rarely a denim product seen in the market which is not being processed after sewing. Denim fabric which is mostly twill fabrics.  A 3/1 twill and 2/1 twill fabrics are mostly found in denim fabrics. Usually the warp yarn is an indigo dyed yarn that is dyed with rope dyeing process and then its woven into denim fabric. The fabric went from weaving into sewing directly before going into any further processing. The fabric from weaving is stiff due application of sizing material which is necessary for an efficient weaving process.

The garment processing can be subdivided into two main sub categories

  1. Garment Dry Processing
  2. Garment Wet Processing

Both of these processes are discussed separately.
