There are different way, which can be used for preparation of the carrier arrangments and machine configuration for preparation of 3D Braids.

The experienced braiders are thinking how to define the different "tracks" and then how to arrange the carriers in the way, that they do not crash.

An overview of application of this method using software is presented in this open access paper

One more systematic approach, especially for profiles with changing forms considers the difference in the positions of one carrier at one given  starting geometry and one future (next) geometry. On the normal machines the gears can not be speeded up, so for them the only way is to delay the carrier in the time in order to place it on the correct place at the correct time. For this reason the method is named "carrier delay"

The method was published as a paper after peer review and is available as open access material on the following link

In case machine with individual drives is available, the same method can be applied for computing the of the time (slots) which the carrier have to be speeded up "in the future". Then the delay will have just negative sign.
